It started back in October 1997 with a group of guys who were tired of paying good money to play in established leagues around the GTA and seeing no more than 20 minutes of action per game after taking into account stoppages and 6-minute shifts from linemates who couldn't give less of a fuck about the guys they played with. So the FNHL was born. No referees, no stoppages, no inconsistent schedules, no BS. Just 90-minutes of hockey every Friday night at 9pm from October to April. In a convenient location right off the highway that serves players from the city of Toronto and players from the suburbs. That's high calibre enough to let the studs do their thing while not being so competetive that the over 50 crowd checks out. That's it.
Throughout the years the FNHL has given rise to decades long friendships and allowed fathers and sons and brothers and friends and colleagues to bond on and off the ice. Hell one or two business ventures have been born out of this thing... maybe one day one of them will be successful!
FNHL is still cruising heading into its 30th season in 2026-27. Plans are underway to celebrate... who's in?
